CrossFit Regionals: The Final Results
To make the final round we needed to be top 16 of 30 on Friday. Done! But to compete in the 2010 CrossFit Games in California we needed to finish top 8 on Sunday. Before the final event we were barely clinging to 8th place by less than 2 seconds.
After hours of bombarding our fearless leader (Tim) with questions and opinions about the best strategy for approaching the final workout, we finally settled in on what you see below. We wrote our assignments on our arm and went in order: Rosanne, Sid, Karen, Tim cycling through until we each completed our tasks.
21 thrusters (girl weight 65#) – Rosanne
15 thrusters (girl weight 65#) – Rosanne
9 thrusters (girl weight 65#) – Karen
21 chest to bar pullups – Sid
15 chest to bar pullups – Sid

5 deadlifts (girl weight 185#) and 10 burpees – Karen

6 squat cleans to overhead (boy weight 155#) – Tim

6 squat cleans to overhead (boy weight 155#) – Tim
6 squat cleans to overhead (girl weight 100#) – Rosanne
6 squat cleans to overhead (girl weight 100#) – Karen
We finished in 7 minutes and 50 seconds! 4th place in that event! Not only did we hold on to 8th but that event bumped up to 6th place! We did it!!!
Rosanne started with 21 thrusters:
Tim watched Sid do pull ups sporting a T-shirt from our gym.
My strength in this workout was definitely the dead lifts. Piece of cake thanks to our high school Phys Ed teacher Mrs. Sumner.
Burpees not-so-much. I was lucky this rep counted. You are supposed to finish vertically with your ears showing in front of your elbows. I also came off the ground way higher than necessary…
…but luckily they got better:
Tim did most of the squat clean and jerks
Rosanne did some too:
Sid flew through kipping pull ups faster than I have ever seen. To give you an idea, the guy behind him in the video is also going exceptionally fast.
Me doing burpees. Like I said, not terribly pretty but a few tips by my teammates right beforehand helped a LOT.
Thanks to the very heroic efforts of all my teammates and the much needed support we received from our spectators we are going to California! Woo hoo!!
