Day 73: Queen of the Beach
Start Date of Body For Life Challenge: January 7
Days Left: 12
Today I will play in my second Queen of the Beach Volleyball Tournament this year. I am excited. There is nothing like being able to play at an indoor beach in your shorts and a tank top when it is 32 degrees outside. Plus, I am in so much better shape than I was last time. I am moving faster, jumping higher, and hitting harder than I have in a long time. The tricky part is that what people are capable of and how they actually perform can be two very different things. We will have to see how it goes today. I will have an update this afternoon.
UPDATE: 24 girls played this morning. We are put in groups of 4 and play one game with each person in that group. If you win you go up. If you lose you go down. In my first round I played horrid and barely broke out of the bottom. I went into my second round ranked 4th of the 4. I turned it around though and ended up 1st in that group and then again took 1st in my final group with a fairly high points total. So I should end up somewhere around 9th of 24. Not too bad!

You must be playing at The Oasis today. I wish I liked playing in sand, but so far, it hasn’t appealed to me. š Do you play hardcourt anymore? I’d love to get together to play sometime…although you’d be way better than me…you always were! Have fun today!

Good job to you! That’s awesome! It sounds like you had a fun day.

Yep! I hated it at first because it was so much harder to move around in the sand. But after a couple weeks you get used to it. The benefit is that it is so much easier on your knees and back and joints. It is also a lot softer to sprawl yourself across the sand than the hard court. Plus I really like playing doubles!
I don’t play hard court at all any more. I tried it a couple times and my knees would just ACHE afterward. There is a girl trying to convince me to play in the grass and even that worries me.
I WOULD love to get some girls from our team together and play sometime though. That would be so fun as a reunion!

That would be a blast! I would definitely be up for that…even if I did have to convince myself to play in the sand! š I don’t know of anyone else that is still playing, except for Autumn. She and I play on co-ed leagues when we can get a team together, but it’s hard to find committed girls to play. We never have a problem finding guys that want to play…it’s always the girls we can’t find.
